The mayors Charity Ball is held every two years and brings the community together socially to raise funds for local charities. The events offers residents a chance to enjoy a night out and enjoy food, drinks and entertainment in a gala atmosphere.
The biennial ball receives sponsorship support from local businesses and is expected to attract an attendance of about 400 people. The funds we receive from this event will help towards the building of our community centre at the Tondoon Botanic Gardens from recycled shipping containers and other recycled materials. Our team have been working with a local architect John Bright to design a centre we believe will be eye-catching, practical, achievable, and off-grid.
The centre will provide us with a venue for a variety of recycling engagement programs including schools and community education, recycled art workshops, and waste minimisation projects. The venue will also have an office, art gallery space and room for small functions. We believe it is important that this facility grow organically in line with community needs, enabling and empowering everyone to be part of the solution: a connected community working harmoniously to embrace and action changes for present and future generations.
We would like to congratulate the other successful recipients for this year’s funds: . Port Curtis District Scouts .Gladstone linking agency . Zonta Club of Gladstone.
