The Creative Recycling Centre has ‘recycled’ St Francis Catholic Primary School Tannum Sands’ Bush Tucker Garden with help from students and thanks to funding from Boyne Smelters Limited.
The CRC organised students to create mosaics, painted poles, insect sculptures, plaques and signage using recycled materials. The students in grades four to six were also taught to reduce, reuse and recycle through brainstorming activities and sourcing recycled items for the makeover. CRC Project Manager and Artist Julie Miers said, “St Francis has been an amazing school to work with. The students, teachers and parents have really enjoyed working with recycled items.” “It’s been wonderful to make something so creative and colourful while teaching students to be mindful of how much we throw out. Be kind to the environment. I have loved the experience.” |
