As part of our Fix It, Don't Ditch It! campaign, we are promoting local businesses in the Gladstone Region that can repair household items.  From clothing alterations to office furniture, shoes to car parts there are a range of business that can help bring your items back to life and save them from landfill!

Offer repair solutions for your office furniture and equipment, including chairs (castors, gas struts & star bases), office equipment servicing, and can also clean your shredders!
In addition, Office National is a collection point for ink and toner cartridges which are sent for recycling through the Close the Loop Program.

What and where can I recycle in the Gladstone Region?

Batteries (household)

Many local stores across the Gladstone Region offer free household battery recycling programs with designated collection boxes located at the store entrances.  These include:
  • Woolworths (AAA, AA, A, C, D, 9V, button and mobile phone batteries)
  • Aldi (AAA, AA, C, D and 9V batteries)
  • Bunnings (AAA, AA, C, D, 9V, 6V, power tool batteries, button cell batteries and other handheld sized batteries that fit into the collection unit slot)
  • Officeworks (AAA, AA, C, D, 9V, laptop and mobile phone batteries)

Contact Lenses & Blister Packs

Gladstone Vision is a community collection point for the recycling of used contact lenses, contact lens cases and blister packs under TerraCycle's Bausch+Lomb Recycling Program.

Eye Glasses 

Old glasses in good condition can be recycled as part of Lions Recycle for Sight program. Through this program spectacles are refurbished and delivered to those in need across the world.

Gladstone Vision at the Windmill Centre is a participating drop off point for this program.

Plastics (Soft)
The REDcycle Program is a recovery initiative for post-consumer soft plastic.

RED Group has teamed up with Coles, Woolworths and some of Australia’s most-loved brands to make it easy for you to keep your plastic bags and soft plastic packaging out of landfill.  Collection bins can be found at the entrances of these stores. 

Check the labels on the packaging - look out for either 'Return to Store' or the redcycle logo.
